Salem-Charles William Carter, 81, of 635 Old Coach Lane, passed away at 6:45 am Friday, September 19, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Carter was born July 23, 1933 in Leetonia, OH, a son of Churchill and Ethel Hines Carter, Sr. and had lived in this area all of his life.
He was an inspector for Kaiser/National Refractory in Columbiana for many years. He was a Kent State University Alumni and belonged to the Archeological Society. Charles also enjoyed arrowhead collecting and served in the US Army.
He is survived by his brothers, James (JoAnn) Carter of Youngstown, Clarence Carter and George Carter both of Alliance; his caregiver, Patricia (Phillip) Rogan-Knipp of Salem; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elinor West and brother, Reverend Churchill Carter, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Reverend Joseph E. Linger officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 am Monday at the funeral home.
