Lisbon-September 19, 2009-Charles L. Butler, Sr., 79, of 40280 State Route 154, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Butler was born May 7, 1930 and was raised by his grandmother, Nancy Butler. He returned to this area in 1990 after living in Louisville.

Chuck was a forge press operator for the Ford Motor Company in Canton for 39 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ and the Lisbon Ruritan Club. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, the former Maxine "Mickey" Anderson, whom he married August 31, 1974; three daughters, Teresa (Bill) Robison of Plain City, Cindy (Steve) Lortz of Robertsville and Shari (Dave) Rowe of Loveland; a son, James (Ellen) Betz of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister, Shirley Martin of Columbiana; three brothers, James (Doris) Martin of Negley, Harmon (Alice) Martin of Vermillon and John (Ellen) Martin of Avon Lake; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Butler; two sons, Charles L "Rusty" Butler, Jr. and Scott Betz, a sister, Betty Johnston and a brother, William Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Jenna Brown officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
