Celeste D. Huk

Columbiana - Celeste Aversa Huk, age 102, of Columbiana, formerly of Ambridge, PA died Friday, December 9, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Huk was born April 14, 1914 in Ambridge, PA, a daughter of Cesar and Felice Matti Aversa. She was the wife of the late George K. Huk, retired President of Central Porcelain Company, a manufacturer of porcelain products. She moved to Columbiana in 1948 and is a Charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church and is its' oldest member. Celeste was the consummate cook and her recipes were featured in the Catholic Exponent, the Youngstown Vindicator and various other publications. At her 100th birthday celebration, in addition to numerous proclamations she was serenaded by a brass band from Columbiana High School and an Opera singer and accompanist from Western Reserve Opera. She brightened the life of everyone she touched. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan.

She is survived by her son Kenneth G. Huk of Philadelphia, PA, a daughter, Barbara D. (Craig) Conroy of Pittsburgh, PA (Gibsonia, PA), a sister Isabel Kisiday of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special acknowledgement to her team of care givers Jenny, Melissa, Tammy, Cindy and Patti who enabled her to reach 102. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice for their exemplary care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Christopher Cicero officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
