New Waterford August 28, 2004 - Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004 to celebrate the life of Cecil Miller Conkle who went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, August 28, 2004.

Born Nov. 3, 1919 in Unity Township, son of Clair R. and Sophia E. Miller Conkle and had lived in the area all of his life.

Mr. Conkle had been a Dairy Farmer and operated the Conkle Dairy Farm, selling retail and door-to-door.

Cecil loved all kinds of music. In high school he had his own dance band, sang in a barbershop quartet for years and loved to sing in the church choir.

He was a long time member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church and the New Waterford Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization Committee and the Registered Holstein-Freisen Association. He was a former Unity Township Trustee and had served on the New Waterford Board of Education.

His wife, the former Kathleen June Weaver whom he married February 17, 1942, preceded him in death November 14, 2002.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David (Beverly) Groubert of Canfield; two sons, Cecil L. (Donna) Conkle of Guilford Lake and Keith J. (Linda) Conkle of New Waterford; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A sister, Marcella Conkle died in 1921

Pastor Kenneth Rambo will officiate in the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home in Columbiana. Burial will follow in the New Waterford Cemetery.

Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Building Fund of New Waterford United Methodist Church.
