Poland – Catherine C. Kolb, 94, of Poland, died at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Assumption Village.

Mrs. Kolb was born October 26, 1919 in Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late Martin and Katherine Sciranko Chizmar, coming to the Youngstown area as a child. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a seamstress at the former Weatherbee Coats, Youngstown.

She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana, the Ladies Guild of the church, the Mahoning County Adult Daycare. She loved to cook, garden, and enjoyed long walks in the woods. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered for her homemade pizza.

Her husband, Edward A. Kolb, whom she married July 18, 1942 died October 4, 1964.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Richard) Keshock of Poland and Barbara Lally of North Lima; a son, Stephen (Celeste) Kolb of St. Cloud, FL; two sisters, Pauline Marlos of Canal Fulton and Elaine Kana of Youngstown; a brother, Ed Chizmar of Greenford; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

A son, Edward Kolb; three brothers, Martin Chizmar, Jr., Rudy Chizmar, and Frank Chizmar; and two grandchildren are also deceased.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church with the Reverend Christopher Cicero officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Austintown. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Jude Catholic Church or Hospice of the Valley.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. The family would like to thank the Assumption Village Staff for the care and compassion shown to their mother.
