Columbiana- Carolyn Esther Hively Witmer, age 79, of Columbiana, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

She was born on February 16, 1937 in New Waterford, a daughter of the late Curtis and Esther Crook Hively.

Carolyn was a graduate of New Waterford High School and had worked in sales most of her life. Her greatest joy was being a grandma. She delighted in supporting her grandchildren through school functions, sports, sewing many treasures for them, but mainly her time and unconditional love. She never wavered in her faith. Her legacy is truly her love of God.

The family would like to acknowledge the folks at Parkside Health Care Center for the compassionate care and support that was extended to Carolyn and her entire family.

Her husband, Dean M. Witmer, whom she married on June 12, 1957, preceded her in death on June 27, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter, PauLa (John) Dunlap; two sons, Larry (Karen) Witmer and Wayne Witmer all of Columbiana; three sisters, Greta Berger Miller, Marilyn Whiting both of New Wilmington, PA, Martha Longbottom of Columbiana; two brothers, John and Roy Hively both of New Waterford. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Joshuah, Jason, Jeremy, Katie, Jake, Emily, Molly, Grace, Tim, Racheal, Levi and by a great granddaughter, Annabelle.

Carolyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Merreot and Joyce Tomlinson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

Services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the New Waterford Cemetery Chapel with Father Christopher Cicero officiating.

Burial will be at New Waterford Cemetery.
