Columbiana - Carole Maureen "Mitzi" Bertolette, 76, of 849 Fairfield School Road, died Monday at 12:55 a.m., June 13, 2011 at Hospice House, Poland.

Mrs. Bertolette was born September 13, 1934 in Salem, a daughter of the late Homer and Thelma Donahue Gilmore. Carole lived in Columbiana for 48 years coming from East Palestine. Following graduating from Leetonia High School in 1952, she was employed for many years by Attorney Devere F. Grappy in Leetonia. She had also been employed in the offices of Deming Crane and Hunt Value in Salem, as well as, the former Columbiana Ledger for 10 years as an office manager. She last worked at Sky Bank in Leetonia as a financial secretary for 23 years retiring in 2001.

She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Leetonia for many years where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Wedgewood Evangelical Congregational Church in Youngstown, AARP, and was active in League Bowling at Arrowhead Lanes in Columbiana.

Her husband, Jack Bertolette, whom she married September 8, 1956, passed away March 10, 2004. Mitzi is survived by two sons, Jeff Bertolette and Jamie Bertolette both of Columbiana; four grandchildren, Matt, Jordan, Colton and Logan Bertolette all of Columbiana; two sisters, Donna (Paul) Morris of Mission Viejo, CA and Martha (David) Nicholas of Watauga, TX; several nieces and three nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband several aunts, uncles and a nephew, Michael Morris preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Columbiana Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.

Memorial tributes may be made to Hospice House, Poland.

Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
