Carol Jean Truzzie, 68, of Columbiana passed away peacefully at home, December 19, from complications related to diabetes.
She is survived by her husband, Larry K. Truzzie of the home, a daughter, Alexis Anne Fuiava (Ellis) of Port Clinton, Ohio, a son, Bryan Keith Truzzie of Colonial Heights, Ohio, and her father, Paul W. Willard of Columbiana.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Allie Bam Willard and a sister, Margaret Ann Willard. Carol graduated from Poland Seminary High School and attended Kent State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Before starting her family, Carol was employed as a private secretary by the Standard Slag Company and later by the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company.
Carol cherished her family above all else and was a loving wife and mother. She loved sunshine, flowers, cardinals and wrens, dogs of all shapes and sizes, mystery novels, scary movies, old houses, antiques, decorating her home for the holidays, preparing holiday meals, the fields of lupines, the light houses and rocky wave washed coast of Maine, horses and the smell of harness leather and saddle soap. Her involvement with horses included training, providing English riding instruction, establishing a 4-H English riding club, being a hill-topper at fox hunting events and helping children with handicaps ride and enjoy horses.
A service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven K. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
