Leetonia - December 23, 2005 - Carmen J. Ferry, age 81, 0f 274 Ridge Street, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday at the University Hospital, Cleveland.
Mr. Ferry was born September 20, 1924 in Leetonia, a son of Anthony and Catherine Grunick Ferry and had lived in this area all of his life.
He had been employed as a machinist at the former NRM Corp. in Leetonia for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He had served in the US Navy during WW II.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Italian-American Club, Joe Williams Post # 131 American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Leetonia and the York Drexler Post 5532 VFW of Washingtonville.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carmel M. Gabriel, whom he married June 30, 1951; a son, Christopher (Penny) Ferry of Leetonia; a sister, Margaret Clunen of Leetonia; three brothers, Gerald Ferry of Leetonia, Anthony "Tony" Ferrell of Austintown, and Robert Ferry of New Castle, PA; and three grandchildren, Nathan Ferry, Bradley Ferry, and Krista Ferry. A son, Dennis Ferry and two brothers, Joseph and Francis Ferry are deceased.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana, with the Reverend Thomas Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia. Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday.
