Leetonia – Carl F. “Corky” Welch, 88, of 343 E. High Street, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home.

He was born January 30, 1926 in Salem, a son of the late Norman and Clara Walzer Welch and had lived in this area all of his life. He served in the US Coast Guard in the Merchant Marine during WWII. He had been employed as an equipment operator at the former Franklin Furniture in Columbiana. Prior to that, he had worked at the former Mullins Manufacturing in Salem. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn M. Kyser, whom he married May 2, 1953; a daughter, Karla Welch of New Waterford; and two sons, Randy Welch and Marlin Welch, both of Leetonia.

A brother, Norman Walzer is deceased.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Leetonia with Father Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
