Columbiana – Candi Pennell, 58, of Columbiana, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at The Hospice House, Poland.

Candi was born April 21, 1959 in Salem, the daughter of Gerald and Lois (Lanterman) Beltempo.

She was a 1977 graduate of Leetonia High School. Candi enjoyed being involved in her community and spent many hours volunteering at Columbiana Schools, organizing the Leetonia Artisans Festival, assisting in the development of High Point Softball Complex in Poland and helping to fundraise for local charities. She was an avid sports fan and never missed one of her daughter’s games.

Candi worked as a US Postal Clerk in the Leetonia Post Office for 31 years.

Besides her father, Gerald Beltempo of Columbiana, Candi is also survived by her husband, Richard “Rick” Pennell of Columbiana, whom she married April 9, 1994; her daughter, Brynn Pennell of Columbiana; a brother Jerry (Connie) Beltempo of Salem; a sister, Bonnie (Ray) Steeb of Columbiana; a niece, Kaitlin Steeb of Columbiana; and her Aunt Blanche Lanterman of Leetonia. Candi is also survived by many other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Beltempo.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Leetonia with the Reverend Robert Edwards officiating.

Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday and at the church in Leetonia one hour prior to the services Wednesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley and the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
