East Palestine- Betty Jean Lester, age 85, of East Palestine, died on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine.

She was born on August 21, 1929, in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Merle and Margaret Veon Blake.

Betty was a lifetime area resident and had worked as a homemaker all of her life.

Her husband, Albert Lester Sr., whom she married on May 12, 1947, preceded her in death on February 28, 1988.

Betty is survived by five sons, , Bobby Lee Lester Sr. of Leetonia, Albert Lester Jr. of East Palestine, Gale (Connie) Lester of Salem, Randall S. Lester of East Palestine and Jeffrey A.(Kelley) Lester of East Palestine; a sister, Joann Boni of California and two brothers, Ronnie Blake of California and Ralph Blake of East Palestine. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas and Terry Lester, a daughter Vicky Lester, three sisters, Dorothy Garris, Rosemary Thompson and Carol Hughes and by five brothers, Merle Jr., Cecil, Eugene, Dale and Larry Blake.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 10AM -11AM at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11AM at the funeral home with Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating.

Burial will be at the Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.
