Betty L. (Blakeman) Welker

Columbiana - Betty L. Welker, age 82, of Columbiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, Boardman.

She was born on August 25, 1942, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Carl and Delta Salyers Blakeman.

Betty was a graduate of Leetonia High School and was a longtime, active member of Abundant Life Fellowship.  She enjoyed helping people through Grief Share and volunteering with the local Food Bank.  Betty also enjoyed taking pictures, especially of her beloved grandchildren at their various sporting events.  She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Family meant everything to her.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Welker, Sr., whom she married on February 23, 1961; daughter, Kim (Scott) Linhart of Columbiana; brother, Robert (Ulah) Blakeman of North Lima; sister, Deloris (Mike) Brown of Columbiana; six grandchildren, Bryan (Brittany) Fay, Kevin (Alyssa) Fay, Matt (Lissie) Fay, Cody (Erica) Linhart, Clint (Kristin) Linhart, and Clay (Caitlyn) Linhart.  Also surviving are eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Welker, a son, George Welker, Jr., siblings, Shelby Blakeman, Darlene Vaughn, Carl "Gene" Blakeman, Jr., John Blakeman, Rachel Rogers, and Albert Blakeman.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Abundant Life Fellowship in New Waterford.

Services will be held on Monday, at the church, at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Jeff Schoch officiating.

Betty is now soaring high with her two children and will be laid to rest by their sides at Zion Hill Cemetery in Columbiana.
