Barbara L. Montgomery

Barbara L. Montgomery, 8:15 Monday, August 23, 2004 at home with her family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born March 11, 1941 in Columbiana, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene W. Hanna and the late Marian Ingalls Hanna and had lived in Columbiana most of her life

She was a life member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana. Her faith and her love and devotion to immediate and extended family members were priorities in her life. She enjoyed the music of James Taylor, had an avid interest in current events, and was active for a number of years in the Columbiana County Democratic party.

In the 1970s she and her family lived briefly in South Korea and India where she became very knowledgeable and interested in the local people and customs there.

In recent years she was a real estate agent with Howard Hanna Realty, Columbiana Office. She started her career at the E.W. Bliss Company, Salem. Following that she was associated with the Fairfield Machine Company, Columbiana where she became the first female officer of the company when she was promoted to the position of Purchasing Agent.

Survivors include two sons Robert W. Montgomery and Scott E. Montgomery; Kelley, Nickolas and Natalie Perez; her father Eugene Hanna all of Columbiana. A granddaughter Petra L. Montgomery of Lisbon; a sister Peggy (Donald) Oberholtzer, a brother David I. (Jean) Hanna all of Columbiana; a brother Lee E. (Anna) Hanna of California, KY as well as many adoring nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her mother, two nephews preceded her in death, Kyle Oberholtzer and Darren Hanna.

Friends may call after 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home in Columbiana where family will be present from 5 to 8 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Services, conducted by Pastor David Conrad, will be held at Jerusalem Lutheran Church Thursday at 11 o'clock followed by burial in Columbiana Cemetery.
