East Palestine - Barbara L. Hall, 89, died Thursday morning, July 16, 2015 at her home in East Palestine, OH.
She was born May 22, 1926 in New Castle, PA, the daughter of the late James and Helen Hazen Chapman.
She graduated from New Castle High School in 1944 and resided in East Palestine since 1950.
She was married to William E. Hall on June 2, 1950 who preceded her in death in 2009.
Mrs. Hall was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class. She especially enjoyed serving on the church's Bereavement Committee and Prayer Chain. She loved to send greeting cards to her many friends and family. She loved cooking, baking, and arts and crafts. She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club of East Palestine.
She had worked as a teller and drive-in branch manager at BancOhio in East Palestine (formerly First National Bank) retiring in 1987.
A caring, gentle and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her sons, William E. (Bill) Hall, Jr. and family friend, Candy Lee of Charlotte, NC, Jeffrey (Lisa) Hall of Columbiana; a daughter, Patty (Tom) Foster of East Palestine; four grandchildren, Dan (Sarah) Hall and Laura (Matt) Gillam, all of New Waterford, Laney (Dean) Blakley of West Alexandria, OH, and Logan Foster of East Palestine; five great grandsons, Ethan, Caleb, Aaron, and Isaac Hall and Clay Gillam, all of New Waterford; two great granddaughters, Hannah Gillam of New Waterford and Emma Blakley of West Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Dute and Jean Calamici.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with the Reverend Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday.
