Barbara A. Kalenits

Barbara A. Kalenits, age 79, formerly of Youngstown died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Parkside Medical Center, Columbiana, where she had been a resident since 2002.

Barbara was born September 1, 1929 in Youngstown the daughter of Willard and Emma Morgan Owens.

She was a loving mother and was also employed as an assembler at the former International Paper Company of Youngstown, and later as a caregiver of her parents and other family members.

She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Youngstown.

She is survived by her four children, Suzanne and Edward Whittaker of Amherst, Barbara "BJ" and Charles Longbottom of Columbiana, David and Mary Kalenits of Streetsboro, and Charles and Annette Kalenits of Berlin Center; eight grandchildren, Kristen Whittaker, Jon Longbottom, Lyndsay (Longbottom) Blakeman, Ashley (Longbottom) Kistler, Sara (Kalenits) Wheelock, Justin Kalenits, David Kalenits and Tina Kalenits; three great grandchildren, Lexus Blakeman, Jayce Blakeman and Grant Wheelock; two sisters, Carole Adams of Texas and Loretta Groce of Pennsylvania; a brother, Thomas Owens of California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gwendolyn Greene.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Ken Clark officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Youngstown.
