East Palestine – Arthur I. Mollenkopf, 98, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of East Palestine, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Emeritus At The Lakes, Fort Myers.
Mr. Mollenkopf was born March 31, 1916 in East Palestine, OH, a son of the late Robert L. and Lela Augestine Mollenkopf. He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator first for the Ralph Veon Corporation for 21 years and later for XL Sand and Gravel, Negley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Jeanne Gregory Mollenkopf in 1965 and his second wife, Irene Cole Mollenkopf in 2006.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory L. Mollenkopf of Stewartstown, PA and Charles A. Mollenkopf of Marietta, PA; three step daughters, Betty Macek of East Palestine, Carolyn Howard of Hueytown, AL and Marilyn Giesel of Fort Myers, FL; a step son, Rudd Wilson of Salem; seven step grandchildren and five great step grandchildren.
A sister, Lois Mae Augestine and two brothers, Kenneth R. Mollenkopf and Paul Mollenkopf are also deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine. Friends may call at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Friday.
