Arnold J. Fitzsimmons

New Waterford - Arnold J. Fitzsimmons, age 82, of New Waterford, died on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home in New Waterford.

He was born on April 19, 1942, in Salem, son of the late Walter and Vivian Montgomery Fitzsimmons.

Arnold had taught auto body classes at the Columbiana County Career Center out of high school before going on to work as an insurance adjuster for Nationwide, he has been retired now for 19 years. He was a collector and lover of antiques, he enjoyed restoring antique tractors, specifically John Deere and Cockshutts as well as White Mountain ice cream freezers. Arnold could make a friend out of anyone; he was kind and compassionate and loved his family dearly.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Rita Houser Fitzsimmons; two stepsons, Timmothy (Loretta) Houck of Louisville, TN and Theodore (Kelly) Houck of Columbiana; a stepdaughter, Kim (Jerry) Phillis of New Waterford; brother, Alan W. Fitzsimmons of Saint George, SC; grandchildren, Alisha, Danny, Trista, Scott, Brianne, Allison, Cara, Haley, Hillary, Lauren, and Katelyn; great grandchildren, Kaden, Maine, Crew, Parker, Ryan, Grayson, and Brady; and two nephews, Greg and Mark.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Christine Graham and her husband Dwain.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.
