Anna "Margaret" Smith

Columbiana- Anna “Margaret” Smith, age 83, of Columbiana, died on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.

She was born on November 4, 1931 in New Springfield, OH, a daughter of the late H. Dale and Mary Florence Rupert Hoffman.

Margaret was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Springfield and had worked as a bookkeeper for Welsh Motors from 1951-1972 and then for Thompson Bros. Mining from 1974-2010. She enjoyed reading and watching Cleveland sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. Mostly, she enjoyed spending her time with her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Elmon Smith, whom she married on November 5, 1955; a daughter, Linda (Todd) Crooks of Columbiana; two sons, Rodney (Kathy) Smith of Westminster, MD and Kevin Smith of Columbiana, OH and by a sister Carol (Paul) Kennedy of Worchester, MA. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Emilee, Sarah and Alyson Smith and two grandsons, Matthew Smith and Rhys Crooks.

Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Fay McClurkin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William Wilkins officiating.

Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana.
