East Palestine-December 13, 2011-Anna M. Ferko, 99, went home to be with her Lord, peacefully at 8:40 a.m., Tuesday at Parkside Health Care Center where she had resided the past 3 A½ years.
Mrs. Ferko was born June 20, 1912 in Johnstown, PA, a daughter of Steven and Anna Fabic Hanecak and had lived in this area most of her life.
Anna was a homemaker and a caretaker for the Tener Farms in Sewickley, PA. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a life member of the George McBane Post 31 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Anna was also a member of the Stitch and Chatter Club and the Senior Citizens of East Palestine.
Her husband Frank Ferko, whom she married October 4, 1932, died September 30, 1978.
She is survived by her son, John (Darlene) Ferko of East Palestine; two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Ferko; and her god-daughter, Jennifer Summers of Pensacola, FL.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Jennings and Mary Russell; two brothers, Steven Hanecak, Joseph Hancock and a half brother, Michael Muha.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with her pastor, Reverend Donald Pentz officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
