Angelo E. Nicotera, Sr., 87, of 1 Wood Street, died at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Nicotera was born December 30, 1919 in Leetonia, a son of Anthony O. and Carmella Rizzo Nicotera and had lived here all of his life.
He served in the US Army during WW II with the 725th Railway Battalion. He had been employed 30 years as a mason tender with Labor Union Local 125 of Youngstown, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia and a life member of Local 125 of Youngstown.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gertrude Krutner, whom he married July 30, 1941; two daughters, Janet OKeefe of Portola Valley, CA and Mrs. Steve (Carmella) Harmon of Sunnyvale, CA; a son, Angelo (Alberta) Nicotera, Jr. of Leetonia; three grandchildren, Mike (Jill) Nicotera of Toledo, Gina OKeefe of Portola Valley, CA, and Kara (Abel) Parsad of Santa Clara, CA; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phillis Falvo and Rosie Way and two brothers, Joseph Nicotera and Frank Nicotera.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.
If friends desire, memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick's Building Improvement Fund.
