Boardman - January 21, 2010 - Andrew Charles Phillips, 25, of 7960 Market Street, formerly of East Palestine, died suddenly Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.

Andrew was born April 6, 1984 in Salem, a son of William "Chuck" and Ann Springer Phillips and had lived in Boardman one year, coming from East Palestine. He was a 2002 graduate of East Palestine High School and also had an associate degree from ITT in Youngstown.

He had been employed as a customer service engineer for NCR Company for the past five years and prior to that was a manager at the East Palestine McDonald's Restaurant.

He was a Christian by faith and had attended the Church of the Nazarene of East Palestine.

Besides his parents, of East Palestine, he is survived by his loving wife, the former Melissa Franken, whom he married October 11, 2008; a beautiful little baby boy, Andrew C. "Drew" Phillips, Jr. of the home; a sister, Candice (Chuck) Foltz of Boardman; two brothers, Eric (Christina) Phillips and Randy Phillips, all of East Palestine; his maternal grandparents, Martha and Fred Springer of East Palestine; his paternal grandparents, Margaret and William Phillips of New Waterford; his mother and father in law, Doralie (Dave) Lautzenheiser of Salem and Rudy (Cathy) Franken of Austintown; nieces, Breanne Phillips, Alexa DiCross and Brianna Dicross; and several sister in laws and brother in laws.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with John Bush, Minister, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.

As a child, Andrew wanted to be Superman. In his final hours, his dream became a reality when he was able to donate his organs and save five people.

Material tributes may be sent to his family for a trust fund for his son.
