Leetonia- Amelia “Toots” Beaver, age 90, of Leetonia, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017 at Hospice House, Poland.
She was born on December 23, 1926 in Salem, the daughter of the late Michael and Amelia Ripper Sullivan and had lived in this area all of her life.
Toots was a postal clerk for the Leetonia Post Office. She had also worked at Bliss Manufacturing in Salem and the DeBartolo Company in Youngstown. She enjoyed being a wife and homemaker. Toots was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia. She had been involved with Oakdale Cemetery and Habitat for Humanity. She loved traveling and spending time with her friends. She was always generous to those in need.
Her husband, Dr. Paul H. Beaver, whom she married in 1965, preceded her in death on June 17, 1985.
She is survived by her son, George (Rachel Hamilla) Beaver of Leetonia; two grandchildren, Paul and Holly Beaver; and a special niece, Nancy Ann Sullivan Christiansen.
Toots was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Harry, Robert and Charles Sullivan.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Leetonia with Father Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Toots may be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W South Range Rd, Canfield, OH 44406 or/ St. Patrick Catholic Church, 167 Main St, Leetonia, OH 44431 and the Hospice House c/o of Hospice of the Valley.
