Akron - Amanda Leigh Westover, 18, of 325 Portage Lakes Drive, formerly of Toledo and Salem, was called home Tuesday morning at her residence with her family at her side.
Amanda was born May 27, 1993 in Orlando, FL, the daughter of Stan and Amy Russell Westover. She was a 2011 honors graduate of the Ohio Virtual Academy. Throughout her life, especially the past 4 A½ years of her fight with brain cancer, she has been a positive, compassionate young lady whose beautiful smile never left her face. She touched and inspired many people along her journey with her selfless acts of kindness and her story. Amanda was inspired by country and Christian music and played the guitar and piano. She was an avid photographer, who especially loved taking photos of her pets and nature. A creative person, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as other crafts, most of which went to charity. She was adventurous, especially conquering roller coasters and zip lining through the trees.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Tom Cresanto of New Waterford, Debra Cresanto of Salem, Gary Russell of Columbiana, Joni Lanterman of Salem, and Richard Guy of Columbiana; and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with family friend, Elder Jeff Nathaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Rather than flowers, Amanda would be pleased to know that you made a donation to a local animal shelter/rescue in her name.
