Leetonia - March 26, 2008 - Alvin J. "Fuddle" Briden, Jr., 81, of 14 W. Main Street died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana.

Mr. Briden was born January 26, 1927 in Cleveland, a son of Alvin and Catherine Gessler Briden. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Al was the head custodian for the Leetonia Village Schools, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he worked for NRM at Columbiana and Leetonia at the former DanDee Chip Company.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a life member of the York Drexler Post #5532, VFW of Washingtonville, the Italian American Club and Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion, both of Leetonia.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anita L. Billet whom he married May 5, 1956; two sons, Anthony J. Briden of Washingtonville and Patrick T. Briden of Boardman; two sisters Corletta O'Brien of Cleveland and Elizabeth Graisa of CA, two brothers Bernard Briden of FL and John Briden of Alliance; and a grandson, Mark Briden.

A sister, Mary Alice Briden and two brothers, Edward and Richard Briden preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with the Reverend Thomas Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
