Columbiana - May 10, 2008 - Alfred W. Imhoff, 82, of 1801 Timberline Drive, formerly of St. Clairsville, died at 10:59 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Community Hospital after being stricken at his home.
Mr. Imhoff was born September 10, 1925 in Stewartsville, OH, a son of Alfred L. and Gertrude Helms Imhoff and had lived here 5 years, coming from St. Clairsville. He had served in the U. S. Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theater. He was a Methodist by faith.
He was employed in the Quality Control Department at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Martins Ferry for 37 years, retiring in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary L. Edgell, whom he married December 10, 1949; a son, Dennis W. (Sherry) Imhoff of Columbiana; a brother, Robert L. Imhoff of Rittman; two grandchildren, Bryan Imhoff and Melissa Imhoff; and two nieces, Marlene Hammond and Denice Bowers. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor David Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, where military honors will be accorded.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial tributes may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
