Alex J. Phillips

Columbiana-July 29, 2011-Alex J. Phillips, 94, 12471 Columbiana-Canfield Road died at 7:55 a.m. Friday at his residence.

Mr. Phillips was born March 9, 1917 in Fort Wayne, IN, a son of Joseph and Esther Ferenczy Fulop.

Alex worked for Erie-Lackawanna Railroad as yard master for forty years retiring in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

His wife, the former, Elizabeth M. May whom he married September 23, 1937 died on December 27, 2004.

He is survived by a daughter, Marge Pollock of Columbiana; a sister, Helen Kobly of Anaheim, CA; three grandchildren, Tim Pollock, Heidi (Eric Kulik) Cooper and Mark (America) Miglets; five great grandchildren, Tony Miglets, Kimberly Miglets, Ashley Cooper, Kaitlyn Bagdassarian and Joanne Kulik; and his beloved pets, Doc and Smoky.

No calling hours or services will be observed.

Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
