Rogers, OH- March 1, 2008-Alda E. Devan, 84, of 4570 State Route 154 died at 3:55 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mrs. Devan was born March 18, 1923 in New Waterford, a daughter of Charles and Clara Ward Gorby and had lived in this area all of her life.
She was a homemaker as well as an assembler for WM Inc., in Washingtonville for 20 years retiring in 1987. She was a member of Southeast Friends Church in Salem.
Her first husband, Charles Butler, whom she married September 17, 1939 died January 24, 1963. Her second husband, Earl Devan, whom she married February 11, 1964, died April 18, 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Francis) Hostetter of Tobaccoville, NC and Clara (George) Metze of Rogers; a son, Charles "Bub" (Barbara) Butler of Calcutta; a sister, Essie Barnard of Salem; eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, June Rogers, Sally and Donna Jean Butler, a step daughter, Barbara DePillo; eight sisters, five brothers, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Bill Williamson of the church officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
