Salem, OH - February 23, 2010 - Alberta Michelle "Mickie" Tenzek, 85, of 12205 Goshen Road, died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mrs. Tenzek was born October 13, 1924 in Salem, a daughter of the late Frank and Birda Starr Henderson and had lived in this area all of her life.
She had been a restaurant manager for the former Country Corner, Columbiana and had also worked in the home health care field. Alberta attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia and was a member of the Joe William's Post #131 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Alberta and her husband started the Helping Hand's Club and were advocates for the veterans and needy in their community.
Her husband, Joseph John Tenzek, whom she married October 23, 1947 died, April 8, 1984.
She is survived by four daughters, Fran (Tim) Tolson and Veronica (John) O'Neil both of Palm Harbor, FL and Antoinette Tenzek and Mary Ann (Garry) Shasteen both of Salem, OH; two sons, George (Bobbi) Cheresne of Salem, OH and Frank (Susie) Tenzek of Leetonia, OH; a sister, Frances Bell of North Lima, OH; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lena Flory, Clara Houshour and Rena Bell; a brother, Emory Henderson, as well as eight other brothers; and a grandson, Joey Hendron.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
