Albert Zakany

Columbiana, OH-Albert Zakany, 96, died at 10:15 am, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital.

Mr. Zakany was born November 28, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of Albert and Elizabeth Nagy Zakany and had lived in the Columbiana area since 1997.

Albert was a vice president of the Steel Division for 14 years for Pittsburgh Bridge and Iron Works. He had also worked for Allied Metals in Niles for 26 years.

His wife, the former Julia Sefcik, whom he married July 30, 1938 died November 3, 2006.

He is survived by his son, Alan Zakany and his companion Cindy Bates of Box Elder, SD; two sisters, Esther Nikkili of Port Richey and Irene Poling of Niles; his former daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Zakany of Rochester, PA; three grandchildren, Alan (Pat) Zakany, Jr., Sean (April) Zakany and Ryan Zakany and his fiancAC., Kelly Pilling; and six great grandchildren, Areil, Logan, Haily, Julia, Aidan Joseph and Ayden Patrick.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Reszegi, Margaret Pachuk, Dorothy Fannin and Julia Kotas; and two brothers, Steve and Ernest Zakany.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana with Reverend Carolyn Griffeth officiating.
