Columbiana June 6, 2004 - Albert Wayne Vollnogle, age 80, of 1696 SR 7 died at 3:00 a.m. Sunday in the Blossom Nursing Center, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

He was born Oct. 2, 1923 in Humtown, son of Roy and Grace Lyons Firestone Vollnogle and had lived in the area and had been a dairy farmer most of his life

He was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, was a longtime adult Sunday School Teacher and had been the Sunday School Superintendent. He had been Assistant Boy Scout Master for the church's troop.

He served with the 264th FA BN in the Army during WW II, serving in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann McPherson, whom he married November 16, 1956; two sons, David (Carol) Vollnogle and Jon (Charlotte) Vollnogle, both of New Waterford; a, brother, Wilmer Vollnogle of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Chad, Malory and Hannah Vollnogle and Gerald and Kimberly Wilhelm.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchael Hennessey and Rev. Charles Ready officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Fund of the church.
