Leetonia - Albert C. Medved, 75, of 445 Pearl Street, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Salem Care Center.
Mr. Medved was born August 12, 1935 in West Brownsville, PA, a son of Paul A. and Julia Burton Medved and had lived in Leetonia since 1964, coming from Pennsylvania.
He has served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was last employed as a supervisor in the weld shop at Heltzel Steel, Warren. Prior to that, he had been employed at Bliss in Salem and NRM in Columbiana and Leetonia. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia and Joe Williams Post # 131 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, the former Billie G. Carroll, whom he married March 27, 1960; two sons, Mitchell (Sandy) Medved of Leetonia and Paul (Elaine) Medved of Salem; two sisters, Wilma Gibson of Monongahela, PA and Margaret Hvizda of Brownsville, PA; two grandchildren, Andrew J. Medved and Staci M. Medved; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Marrelli and Francis Medved and two brothers, Paul Medved and Frank Medved.
Private funeral services will be held Monday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with the Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the combined group from the Salem Amvets and VFW. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials can be made to the St. Patrick's Church Food Bank, 167 Main Street, Leetonia. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Salem Care Center and Hospice of the Valley for their care and prayers.
