Agnes E. Merrill

Columbiana- Agnes E. Merrill, age 91 of Columbiana, died peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 12, 1925 in Struthers, a daughter of the late Frank and Susanna Kuspan Girard.

Agnes was a homemaker and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana. She was an avid reader, enjoyed baking and crocheting. She also enjoyed square dancing with her late husband as well as volunteering as a host mentor at Crestview Elementary School. Agnes never missed attending the Canfield Fair in her 91 years where she loved eating her Strouss' malts. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and her great grandchildren.

Her husband, Calvin E. Merrill, whom she married on September 16, 1950, preceded her in death on July 19, 1984.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Timothy) Johnson of Columbiana; two granddaughters, Jayla (Barry) Leetch of Columbiana and Krista (Kevin) Smith of New Middletown. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Conner Leetch, Ben Leetch, Wesley Smith and her great granddaughter Smith, on the way!

Agnes was preceded in death by her son, Robert R. Merrill and two sisters, Pauline Girard and Elizabeth Pusser.

The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Funeral services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Christopher Cicero officiating.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
