Thomas W. Snyder

Columbiana-Thomas W. Snyder, 63, of Columbiana passed away on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born March 29, 1953 in Salem, a son of the late Oliver and Merlin McClanahan Snyder.

Tom was a 1971 graduate of Crestview High School. He was recently employed at Falcon Transport after working for Browning Ferris Industries for 20 years.

Tom enjoyed gardening and traveling, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family especially playing with his grandkids.

He took great pride in the publishing of his book, "My Story His Victory", which tells of his strong faith and its role in sustaining his fight against brain cancer.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, the former Kathy Zimmer, whom he married October 26, 1974; a son, Todd (Carrie) Snyder of Columbiana; a daughter, Jen Wendell of New Waterford; three grandchildren, Addison, Grant and Blake; three brothers, Bill (Marsha) Snyder of Ravenna, Dan (Ladene) Snyder of Beaver Falls, PA and David (Martha) Snyder of Sherrodsville; two sisters, Wanda (Owen) Carrico of Clarksburg, WV and Linda Snyder of Leetonia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Reed and a brother, Jerry Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 and from 11:00-noon Friday at the funeral home.
