A private family funeral service was held by the Reverend Steve Fortenberry and the Reverend June Barrow for Helen Baker Barrow at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barrow died at 6:25 a.m. at the Alterra Sterling House of Salem, OH., where she had lived for a little over three years.
Mrs. Barrow was born March 9, 1925 in Erwin, Tenn., a daughter of John and Hattie Bell Whaley Baker. During the early 1930's, her father moved the family to Struthers and New Middletown.
Surviving are her husband John J. Barrow of Columbiana whom she married on February 19, 1950, daughter, Kathy Llewellyn of Columbiana; a sister, Laura Smith of Poland; a brother, James Baker of Youngstown; a granddaughter, Kristen Llewellyn of Columbiana; and a grandson, Kevin Llewellyn of Los Angles, CA.
Helen was a 50+ year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana. She was involved in the church circles, was a member of Eastern Star Lodge Columbiana Chapter #428, a past member of the Columbiana Mothers Club, past Brownie and Girl Scout leader and also belonged to several bridge clubs.
Upon graduation from Springfield Twp. High School where she was a cheerleader, she went to beauty school in Youngstown. Later she opened a beauty salon on the square in Columbiana.
Mrs. Barrow became quite a seamstress and enjoyed collecting antique dolls and cooking.
In keeping with her wishes there were no calling hours. Burial will be in the family plot in Columbiana Cemetery.
