Columbiana, OH - Elbert Edwin Lynn, 91, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mr. Lynn was born November 24, 1922 in Ohio to Aden and Edna Lynn. Elbert was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and his deceased wife, Mary Louise Lynn (Chellis), began their life together as sweethearts at Fairfield High School in Columbiana County, Ohio and were married 65 years.

Mr. Lynn served in World War II as a mechanic for the US Army Air Force. After the war, Elbert worked for the United States Postal Service (USPS) for 30 years. Following his retirement from the USPS, Elbert pursued his passion for the ministry and became a minister serving congregations in North Lima, Ohio and Fayetteville, North Carolina. In his later years, he was a prayer counselor for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Mary Louise, his two brothers Fred and Lee Lynn, his son-in-law, Robert "Hank" O’Meara, and his parents, Aden and Edna Lynn.

Surviving children are Betty O’Meara (Hank), C. George Lynn (Nancy), and Jeanette Walker (Jeff). He was the grandfather to David O’Meara (Yvette), Jason O’Meara, Aaron O’Meara, Heather Lynn, Chessey Brenton (Chad), Dana Bradley (Shawn) and great-grandfather of six. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Frieda Bevington and Viola Chellis, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, 28 N. Main Street, Columbiana, Ohio, with visitation on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Paradise Cemetery immediately following the memorial service. Rev. John Bartholomew will officiate at the services.
