William "Bill" Kandray

Alliance-William “Bill” Kandray, 91, formerly of Detwiler Rd. in Columbiana passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at Community Care Center in Alliance surrounded by his family.

Mr. Kandray was born August 4, 1926 in Steubenville, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Klucs Kandray.

Bill had worked for RC Organ Construction in Youngstown and was a member of the Local Carpenters Union. He was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana and attended Grace Community Church in Alliance. Bill served in the US Navy during World War II. Bill loved his hobby farm but more importantly, Bill loved his family.

His wife, the former Evelyn May Wagner, whom he married October 20, 1951, died February 11, 2009.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Gary) Bush of Alliance and Lori (Bruce) Foraker of Durham, NC; his sons, W. Michael (Stephanie) Kandray of Winston Salem, NC, Mark (Mary) Kandray of McHenry, IL, Bob (Carrie) Kandray of Devide, CO and Dan (Tammie) Kandray of Massillon; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Alliance Hospice Chaplain, Freddie Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Columbiana Honor Guard Post #290. Friends will be received from 10-11 am Saturday at the funeral home.
