Leetonia- Robert J. Valentine, age 82, of Leetonia, died on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 6, 1935 in Rochester, PA., a son of the late Oakland and Cecilia Chleba Valentine.
Bob started his career working as a diesel mechanic in Youngstown before owning and operating Valentine’s Service Stations in Leetonia and then later working at the Recreation Center in Salem.
He was an avid Cleveland sports fan who loved cooking and entertaining his family and friends.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Leetonia American Legion, Washingtonville VFW, Salem AM Vets and the Leetonia Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Marge” McNiven Valentine, whom he married on January 21, 1961; two sons, Rick Valentine of Leetonia and Daniel (Jennifer) Valentine of Leetonia; a sister, Catherine Hirst of Poland; six grandchildren, Danielle (Elmer) Brown, Malorie, Aaron, Kelsie, Cody and Corey Valentine, and twin great grandsons, Dylan and Kyle Brown.
Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Valentine; four brothers, James, Charles, Paul “Butch” and Bernard Valentine, and by two sisters, Margaret Cheslock and Mary Smith.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
Services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.
Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery in Leetonia where military honors will be accorded by the Salem Honor Guard.
