East Palestine – Healing is here for Richard Duane Hamilton, Jr., 68, of East Palestine on, December 22, 2018, surrounded by his family and faithful dog Levi.
He was the son of the Late Richard and Kathryn Inman Hamilton, Sr., born on September 2, 1950.
Richard graduated from Beaver High School in 1969 and attended CCBC, Monaca, PA. He was a member of the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1970 to 1973. Richard was a member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion. He worked for J and L Steel as a crane operator in West Aliquippa, for shipping port power plant as radioactive control, for the Monaca Walmart in the paint and hardware department and many other jobs. He loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore Hamilton, whom he married, August 8, 1970; a daughter Racheal Hamilton of Salem; a son, Pastor Joseph Hamilton of East Palestine; two sisters, Debbie Griggs of Humbolt, TN and Becky (Larry) Shankle of Aliquippa, PA; three brothers, Fred (Patty) Hamilton of Beaver, PA, Rev. Daniel (Sharon) Hamilton of Pittsburgh, PA and Phil (Tammy) Hamilton of Vanport, PA and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristia Mae Dobbins.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Pam Price and his son, Pastor Joseph Hamilton officiating.
Burial will follow in Seceder Cemetery, Darlington, PA where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene, 38 East Rebecca Street, East Palestine, OH 44413.
