Salem-Raymond M. Janik, 79, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Briarfield at Ashley Circle, Austintown.
Mr. Janik was born April 30, 1939 in Petersburg, OH, a son of the late Raymond and Christina (Smotrilla) Janik and had lived in the area most of his life.
Ray was self employed as a dairy farmer and owned Hickory Pastures Farm. He co-founded the Greenford Happy Helpers 4-H Club and was an advisor for twenty years. Ray was also a member of the American Guernsey Association and the American Jersey Association and had exhibited dairy cattle at the Canfield Fair for 48 years. He was a member of St. Michael Parish, in Canfield.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Janik, whom he married September 7, 1959; his daughter, Lori Coler of Canfield; his son, Michael Janik of Salem; his granddaughter, Christina Coler of Hilliard; a sister, Barbara (Charles) Ridenhour of Suffolk, VA; and two brothers, William (Kathie) Janik of Boardman and Ronald (Susan) Janik of Richfield.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rob Coler.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Terrence J. Hazel officiating. Friends will be received from 6:30 pm -8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
