Leetonia- Nancy Virginia Kemp, age 69 of Leetonia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 19, 1949 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Jerome and Agnes McGarry Hiznay.
Nancy had worked as a case worker for Mahoning County Jobs and Family Services for almost 30 years and most recently, donating her time as a volunteer with Community Hospice. She was a Mahoning County 4-H advisor for 50 years as well as a regular visitor to the Canfield Fair. She enjoyed living the farm life, loved animals and was a member of Farm Bureau for 30 years. Nancy enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time camping and boating at Lake Erie. She may best be remembered as a happy person with a big heart
Her husband, Larry Kemp, whom she married on November 7, 1970, preceded her in death on July 17, 2011.
She is survived by a son, Eric (Kristen) Kemp of Leetonia; a daughter, Tracy Kemp of Euclid; four brothers, Jerry (Ann Marie) Hiznay of Bonita Springs, FL, Bill Hiznay of New Springfield, OH, Tom Hiznay of Poland and Jim (Mandie) Hiznay of Poland; a sister, Mary Hiznay of Poland, and two grandchildren, Zachary and Emma Kemp.
Nancy was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Warren and a granddaughter, Susan Kemp.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
Memorial prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mahoning County 4-H, or Community Hospice, Salem.
