East Palestine – Linda A. Rhodes, 71, of East Palestine, died, October 2, 2018 at Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center.
She was born June 1, 1947, in Koppel, PA, daughter of the late James Clive Mckee and Dorothy Gibb Mckee.
Linda was the owner of Mckee’s Crossing, East Liverpool. Served the Tri-State area for many years as the director of S.H.A.R.E. Foodbank, Lisbon. She was a very active member of her community serving as a past president of the George F. McBane Legion, Post 31, East Palestine, past president of the East Liverpool Business Association, was a member of the East Palestine VFW, member of the Tri-State Promoters and served as a council woman for the village of East Palestine. Linda was selfless serving as an advocate for the poor and an ombudsman for the elderly. She was the founder of the East Palestine chapter of Meals on Wheels and a founding member of the A.B.L.E. (the Alliance for Better Living East Liverpool). She was a recipient of the Harry Chapin award for her social work, was featured in a Feed the Children Documentary and was voted Columbiana County Citizen of the year. Linda enjoyed politics, sewing, cooking and her Family.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Gary Rhodes, whom she married, April 30, 1966; Four Children, Patricia (William) Chick of East Palestine, Christina (Curtis Peachey) Clark of East Liverpool, Sean (Terry) Rhodes of Marysville, CA and Mary Rhodes of Allentown PA; a brother James (Ronnie) Mckee of Philadelphia PA; a granddaughter, Joslin Rhodes of Marysville, CA; seven grandsons, Corey Chick of East Palestine, David (Shanna) Chick of East Palestine, Daniel Chick of the U.S. Army, James Clark of Youngstown, Patrick Clark of East Liverpool, Kadin Wolfe of Marysville, CA and Riley Williams of Allentown PA; a great granddaughter, Eabha Chick and a great grandson Conlan Chick.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, with Pastor Ernest Peachey officiating.
Burial and committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Allegheny Church Cemetery in Allegheny township, PA.
