Columbiana - James L. Anderson, 76, passed away Monday evening, March 11, 2019 at his home.
Mr. Anderson was born May 26, 1942 in Hanoverton, a son of the late Lloyd and Madeline Bennington Anderson and had lived in this area all of his life.
Jim was a mechanic at Buckeye Industrial Coal Mining, where he worked for 38 years before retiring in 2007 and served in the US Army in Germany during peacetime. He enjoyed Nascar with his sons and motor cross racing with his grandson Eric. He also loved tinkering in his garage and working with his hands.
He is survived by his wife, the former Karren Roshon, whom he married June 21, 1964; three sons, Douglas (Marcia) Anderson of East Liverpool, Brian (Helen) Anderson of Columbiana and Craig (Cathy) Anderson of Mantua; a daughter, Cindy (David) Anderson-Reese-Coie of Columbiana; two sisters, Janet Boyle of Lisbon and Dixie (Jerry) Sherrill of Columbiana; a brother, Lloyd “Ike” (Gerri) Anderson, Jr. of Salem; grandchildren, Jarrett (Erin) Bontempt, Eric Reese, Lauren Reese, Leigha Anderson, Reese Anderson, Asia Anderson; and ten step grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, Eric Scott Anderson; brother, Charles “Bud” Anderson and a son-in-law, Ed Reese.
Private services were held at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial followed in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion Honor Guard.
