Columbiana-Gerald W. Garrity, age 88, of Columbiana, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Whispering Pines Village, Columbiana.
He was born on November 16, 1929 in Mineral Ridge, a son of the late John and Ethel Garland Garrity.
Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War and was a past member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana, a Lifetime member of the Canfield Conservation Club and a Life member of Allen Lodge #276 in Columbiana and the Youngstown Shrine Club. Gerald had worked as a carpenter and a millwright before working at GM Lordstown. He was an avid Cleveland fan who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapshooting.
His wife, Jane Zimmerman Garrity, whom he married on June 2, 1956, preceded him in death on January 20, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, Rick (Brenda) Garrity of Columbiana, and Jeff (Jayne) Garrity of Grand Ledge, MI; a sister, Virginia Mullee of Naples, FL; three grandsons, Brian (Traci) Garrity, Colby (Leslie) Garrity, and Lee Garrity. Also surviving are four great grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Garrity.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey Corbett officiating.
Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion.
