Frederick E Welshhans

Columbiana – Frederick E. Welshhans, 77, of Columbiana, died, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Convington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born, April 21, 1941 in Steubenville, a son of the late Helen Heinz and Leroy Welshhans.

Frederick worked as a supervisor with Weirton Steel Co., retiring in 1994 and was a member of Greenford Christian Church, Greenford. He served in the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. Frederick was a member of the Weirton Masonic Lodge #171, the Shriners Osiris Temple of Wheeling WV, the Disabled American Vets in Salem, Pointman Ministries in Leetonia and the Weirton Steel Co. 25 year club. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish rite and a life member of the VFW in Weirton, WV. Frederick enjoyed Fishing and building guns in his spare time.

He is survived by two sons, John (Gale) Welshhans of Colliers, WV and George Welshhans of Columbiana; two step daughters, Rochelle (Jesse) Wright of Salem and Kristen (Joseph) Cataneo of Venetia, PA; nine grandchildren, Kathryne (Dustin) Loyd, Karissa Welshhans, Kayla Welshhans, Kimberly Welshhans, John Welshhans, II, Madison Wright, Alexis Wright, Hannah Cataneo and Levi Cataneo and two great grandchildren, Dustin Loyd, II and Alaina Loyd.

Frederick was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Justin Matthew Michael Welshhans.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.
