David Allen Burgess

New Waterford – David Allen Burgess, 62, of New Waterford, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend went to be home with Jesus on November 26, 2018, at Vibra Hospital in Boardman.

Dave was born on December 22, 1955, in Rochester, PA, a son of the late James Ray and Edith Hilkka Forsman Burgess. He grew up in Industry, PA. He spent most of his adult life in Portland, OR and most recently resided in New Waterford, OH.

Dave was passionate about his Lord Jesus Christ and spreading the good news to as many people as he was able. He was a skilled carpenter and jack-of-all-trades who was willing to use those skills for the people he loved. He enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends and loved the life that he was blessed with. Heaven gained a beautiful soul that will be honored and missed a little more each day.

He leaves behind his loving wife of five wonderful years, the former Marianne Basinger, whom he married on September 7, 2013; a daughter, Sheena (Scott) Rogers of Helena, MT; four sons, Joseph (Melina) Burgess of Australia, Nathan (Katie) Meek of Negley,OH, Seth (Kaitlyn) Meek of New Waterford, OH, and Thomas Burgess of Salem, OH; a sister, Edith (James) Nichols of Industry, PA; three brothers, William (Christine) Burgess of Industry, PA, Joseph (Ann) Burgess of Negley, OH, and Raymond (Lorraine) Burgess of Rochester, PA.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Phoebe and Savannah Rogers and Lucy, Silas, Caleb, Oliver, and Henry Meek and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles that he loved dearly.

The family will celebrate Dave’s life at the Christian Assembly Church on Sunday, December 2, 2018, where he was an active member. The church is located at 6241 Tuscarawas Road, Industry, PA 15052. The family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses.
