Carl Pennell Obituary

Leetonia-Carl D. Pennell, 89, of Leetonia, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at his home.

He was born on May 6, 1928, in Cleveland, a son of the late, Clyde and Florence May Peterson Pennell.

Carl was a graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon and had worked as the senior maintenance man for Kyser Refractories in Columbiana.  He served in the United States Marines Corp and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lisbon, Salem Amvets, Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion, Leetonia, and the Leetonia Ruritans.  He was also a member of the Kaiser Retirees’ Breakfast Club and was an Eagle Scout, as well as, a scout leader for Pack #92 of Boy Scouts of America.  Carl and Pat enjoyed traveling and made it to 48 states and parts of Canada.  He was an avid bowler and loved his birds and roses.

His wife, the former Emma “Pat” Priscilla Roberts, whom he on June 29, 1947, preceded him in death on May 30, 2016.

He will be sadly missed by all who loved him, especially his three daughters, Susan Chuey of Salem, Yvonne (Jay) Mahon of Leetonia and Joan (Ken) Sutton of Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren, Heather Briceland, Alicia Thompson, Jason Chuey and Brandon Mahon; five great grandchildren, C.J., Austin, Brittany, Zachary, and Olivia; two great great granddaughters, Jocelynn, and Amelia; as well as, Judy and Jim Smith whom he loved like family.

Carl was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeffrey Chuey and a brother, Clyde William Pennell.

Per his request, no services will be observed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
