East Palestine - Norman A. Kimble, age 96, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Christian House in East Palestine

Norman was born on April 9, 1927, in New Middletown, son of the late Clarence and Ora Shultz Kimble.

Norman served in the US Amy during World War II in the Philippines where he was a mechanic. Later he worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Diesel, first in North Lima and then Hubbard. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he had served as deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Union Operating Engineers Local 66 where he served as shop steward. Norman and Rosetta also owned and operated the Amoco Gas Station in Petersburg in the early 50's.

He was a long-time member of various local bowling leagues and enjoyed camping, boating, fixing vehicles and playing cards with his family.

He is survived by his wife of almost 78 years, the former Rosetta Smith, whom he married on February 18, 1946; his two daughters, Cindy (Gary) Clark  and Juley (Bob "Louie") Lewis both of East Palestine; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan Sneddon) Mora of New Springfield, Ashley (Jared) Walding of Palmyra, VA, Jamison (Krisann) Lewis of East Palestine and Brandon (Amanda) Lewis of Salem; eight great grandchildren, Logan and Mallory Mora, Jayden, Devon and Adrienne Walding, Kara Lewis, Makaia and Auraya Lewis; two step grandchildren, Theresa (Chris) Rutledge and Rob (Blair) Clark; four step great grandchildren, Morgan and Clark Rutledge and Teddy and Wyatt Clark; a sister-in-law and brother-in law, Luanne and Mike Fierro and sisters-in-law, Shirley Shoaff and Sue LaClair. He also leaves his beloved cat, Good Girl.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel M. Ball and Doris Hutchison, brothers, Gerald "Wimp”, Vernon, Porter, Ken and George Kimble, Albert and James LaClair.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

Services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Cindy Figley officiating.

Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
