Anthony "Tony" Bernard Obituary

Columbiana - Anthony "Tony" Bernard, age 70, of Columbiana, died on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

He was born on June 4, 1953, in Salem, son of the late Anthony and Josephine Troy Bernard.

Tony was a graduate of Leetonia High School and grew up attending St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia.  He made his career working as a welder.  Tony retired in 2020 from Hickey Metal Fabrication and was known in the area for his talent as a master welder.  He enjoyed socializing and belonged to several social clubs in Leetonia, including the OSI #1535, Eagles #1496, American Legion Post #131, and the Washingtonville VFW Post #5532.  Tony never met a stranger and had a gift for gab and storytelling.  He was a humble man but took a lot of pride in achieving twenty-six years of sobriety.  He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, working in his yard, attending yard sales, and absolutely loved eating food!  He was a man with a big heart who had a special love for not only his family and his friends, but also for his numerous fur babies whom he adored.

Anthony is survived by his daughter, Annie (Paul Edgar) Bernard of Columbiana; sister, Debbie (Thomas) Knopp of Salem; brother, Vin (Debbie Burgy) Bernard of Canfield; three nieces, Whitney (Juan) Salazar of Miami, FL, Niki (Steve) Knopp of Spout Spring, VA, and Kasey Knopp of Gaithersburg, MD; nephew, Shawn (Heather) Knopp of Salem, and by many beloved cousins and extended family.

Tony was preceded in death by nephew, Knute Anthony Bernard.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Tony’s Life to be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to his daughter Annie Bernard to help with funeral expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
