Leetonia- John Edward Grubbs, age 67, of Leetonia, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 28, 1950 in Salem, a son of Donna Welker Grubbs and the late John “Jack” Grubbs.
John was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion in Leetonia, and the York Drexler Post #5532 VFW in Washingtonville. John was a partner, owning and operating Grubbs Brother’s Inc. and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia. He was a member of both the Farm Bureau and the NRA. He enjoyed driving truck, hunting, and spending time in the outdoors. Mostly, John enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren and pursuing his greatest passion which was farming with his sons and brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary “Molly” Snow Grubbs, whom he married on June 25, 1977; his mother, Donna Grubbs of Leetonia; three sons, John Paul Grubbs of Leetonia, Adam Edward (Sarah) Grubbs of Hammondsville, OH, and Andrew Robert (Lauren) Grubbs of Leetonia; a sister, Kim Kundravi of Leetonia, and two brothers, Jim (Lana) Grubbs of Leetonia, and Charles Grubbs of Leetonia. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Adalee, Trenton, Maxwell and Sawyer Grubbs.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Stephen Wassie officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.
